The countdown has begun. It's that strange time of year in Utah when we turn our attention from warm summer nights and barbecues to thinking about which ski resort we'll buy a season pass to. The leaves haven't even started to change color, yet in some 100 days, Utah's resorts will put chairlifts in motion.
The powder pillows and snowy-white bliss are calling, as strange as it might seem. It's hard not to get excited. After all, these snow-covered Wasatch mountains were the main draw for many of us non-native Utahns.
So many of us travel up Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons in August for respite from the heat in the valley below. But when we get to Hidden Peak at Snowbird—or any other worthy mountain top—we just daydream about visiting the white room—so very soon. Keep daydreaming, but know that winter is almost here.
With all the action in the industry (Deer Valley purchasing Solitude, the Park City/Canyons merger, etc.), there will be some exciting deals and combo packages for season passes available. Where will you be skiing?
