“My theory about the subjects I choose to paint is to depict life as it could be—simple, down to Earth,” says oil painter Robert Duncan.
The renowned painter has been a resident of Midway, Utah, for 40 years. It's a place that is constantly inspiring, because it's where you can be close to nature and still live a modern life, but you don’t have to put up with all of life's craziness, he says. A strong value and emphasis on family, the open countryside, and a rural way of living show throughout his canon of fine art paintings.
Looking at Duncan's gorgeous works, one is not only struck by his ability to capture light, but also how he depicts the small-town Utah aesthetic and feeling with painterly perfection. To gaze deep into his idyllic art is to get to the core of what it means to be unfettered and free—child-like, even.
Duncan is represented by Trailside Galleries in Scottsdale and Jackson Hole. Find out more about Robert Duncan by visiting his portfolio website.
