Clad in lederhosen or traditional garb,, most of these horn players are trained in French horn or some other type of brass and cross over to these 10-foot-long billowing, wooden alphorns to play traditional European high-mountain tunes at 3:15pm every Saturday during Oktoberfest's two-month run, Aug. 17-Oct. 13, During this festival, thousands of pounds of bratwurst and weisswurst are eaten, kegs of beer are downed, and the traditional Alphorns are rejoiced.
